My future job (I Guess)

Cover of Brazilian Archaeology journal

Hello dear readers, today this post is about what I think is going to be my future job. Like an Archaeology student of the Faculty of Social Sciences, I alredy got a minor of Anthropoly at the 2do year, now  at 5th year, I will get my major on Archaeology if I don't fail any class. Also, our work as professionals is related with the protection of patrimony under the Chilean Law, so I would like to work doing environmental archaeology, usually related with buildings and engineering, where our job is related with the protection of the patrimony on any topic related with building things, like a house, a departament complex, a bridge, a port,a road and more. But I would also like to work doing investigation if I have the opportunity, but principaly on a museums, doing classification of different artifacts and ecofacts, and investigation how to keep these objects, like some kind of curator. If not, I could get used to Environmental Impact labor, even if I have my issues with the way that Capitalist Archaeology is done in Chile, and If we are really "protecting" the patrimony.

Like a future archaeologist, I'm forced to do outdoors job, on things related with prospection and digging, but all the other work related with burocratic and reports could be classified as indoor, but I would like to travel a lot, I like more going out and doing field work, rather that being in an office.

About the salary, Im not studying to be jobless, so, I Guess I wont accept job that pay less than 100.000 CLP per day, but it depends on the situatio i'm into.

Greetings.

  1. It´s really difficult whit what we were thought in university and what we believe to think of working in environmental impact, but sadly is one of the better-paid jobs out there... as long as you're conscious of the problems, it can help in moments of economic need
